Following is a list of items that we currently need to support women and children in our shelters and through our community outreach programs.

***UPDATE***

Due to renovations taking place at our Richmond Hill Shelter, we will temporarily not be accepting any USED donations at both shelters. 

For NEW donations, please contact our Fund Development Officer below.

For security reasons, please call ahead before dropping off donations.

Please call our shelters in advance and our staff will confirm with you whether we are able to accept the items you wish to donate and schedule a delivery time.

Unfortunately, from time to time, due to space limitations and priority needs, we have to regretfully turn away certain items. We thank you for your understanding.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST

Planning a holiday gift drive? Please consider the following items that we are in urgent need of:

  • New pajamas for women and children of all sizes
  • New bedding for twin beds (comforters, bed sheets, pillowcases, pillows)
  • New bath towels
  • New crib sheets
  • Gift cards to grocery, department, and clothing stores (Walmart, Giant Tiger, President’s Choice, Toys R Us, Winners, etc.)
  • Vouchers (movies, mini-putting, Wonderland, Ontario Science Centre or other family-friendly activities)
  • New, unwrapped, non-violent toys for children of all ages  and teenagers

ONGOING NEEDS

Currently, we are in need of:

  • Non-perishable, unopened food items (including: pasta, canned or jarred pasta sauce, canned diced tomatoes, peanut butter, jam, rice, canned vegetables and fruits, Kraft dinner, soups, crackers, oatmeal and cereal)
  • Gift cards to grocery, department, and clothing stores (Walmart, Giant Tiger, President’s Choice, Toys R Us, Winners, etc.)
  • Vouchers (movies, mini-putting, Wonderland, Ontario Science Centre or other family-friendly activities)
  • Gas Cards (Petro-Canada, Esso, Shell, etc.)
  • York Region and TTC bus tickets/tokens (Adults, Seniors/Students)
  • New, unwrapped, non-violent toys for children of all ages  and teenagers
  • New bedding for twin beds (comforters, bed sheets, pillowcases, pillows)
  • New bath towels and face cloths
  • Feminine hygiene products (tampons, pads, etc.)
  • Full size, unopened shampoo and conditioners
  • Toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning wipes
  • New dish detergents and laundry detergents
  • New and gently used baby monitors
  • New baby cribs
  • New crib sheets
  • Diapers (all sizes)

CLOTHING NEEDS

***We are currently not accepting used clothing donations***


ITEMS THAT HELP WOMEN GET SET UP AFTER THEY LEAVE THE SHELTER

We accept the following new items:

  • Oven mitts
  • Can openers
  • Cutting boards
  • Cutlery
  • Paring knives
  • Dish drainers
  • Dish towels
  • Dish cloths
  • Frying pans and pots
  • Crock pots
  • Bowls and plates
  • Hair dryers
  • DVD players
  • Rice cookers
  • Hair brushes and combs
  • Full size shampoo and conditioners
  • Baby bottles

TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING 

Due to storage limitations, we periodically suspend acceptance of certain items to allow for items of priority/high needs. Please check back often for most up to date items.

Currently, we are not accepting:

  • Mugs
  • Travel size toiletries
  • Used clothing donations

LARGE APPLIANCES AND FURNITURE

Unfortunately, we have limited storage space and cannot accept large appliance and furniture donations. From time to time, we will list priority needs for such items here. 


PROHIBITED

We are prohibited from accepting the following items due to health and safety concerns:

  • Any vitamins or health supplements
  • Any form of over-the-counter medication
  • Any items with images of wine or alcohol
  • Any wine or alcohol
  • Chocolates filled with liqueur
  • Opened toiletries
  • Opened cosmetics
  • Any items passed their “best before” or “expiry dates”
  • Any items that are stained
  • Any items that need to be repaired
  • Used undergarments
  • Used baby cribs
